Roses Empty
PostSubject: Roses   Roses EmptySun Nov 26, 2006 9:10 pm

I have two lovely New Dawn roses that I want to find a new home for in Feb/march. They are the ones that were growing on my front prch. I have cut them back pretty severly and will dig them up if anyone wants them. They are a lovely pink and have one bloomed once a year for me, but they are supposed to bloom all summer long, which I am sure that they will do if they have sun all day. For the past 5 years they have been COVERED in roses in may. I have to move them b/c they don't allow enough air to get to my porch and it mildews....

any takers?

Gavin really likes roses and would love to have them... only if you're willing to give them to us knowing that they only have a 60% chance of being dug up again and moved to the next house that we move to.

If there is someone else though that wants them and will put them to good use then they should have them.

I would love to have some more roses. They seem to do awesome over here (i have two rose bushes that are STILL blooming!). But its up to you, Lynelle. You choose where you would like them to live Wink . Its ok with me no matter what. I already have 5 rose bushes, so you can give them to Jesse if you want, but Jesse, they will need LOTS of sun. Where could you put them in your yard that would get all day sun?

I can give one to each of you. These are climbing roses, so they will need an arch. One rose will easily cover an arch, at my house they grew up a 10' arch then onto the roof. Most of the canes were 15-20' long!!

By the way... the secret to abundant rose blooms is bannana peels! I ust threw mine at the base of the plant and boy... did they bloom!

We already have an arch at the end of our deck on the sunny side where my butterfly bush is growing and where we grew our potatoes last year.

That's where we put any sun loving plants.

The arch is only 6' but it shouldn't grow more than that tall before we move anyway right?

Wow, banana peels! Neat trick... does that work for all plants?

It works well for just about all plants... esp. ones that need to flower over an extended amount of time. It took about 3 years for them to engulf my house..... BTW it has WICKED thorns.......

Okey dokey... I'll be digging them up in march so have a place ready for them. I have cut them back to about 18" which will help to make the move not quite so tramatic
