We're watching the news, they are telling people now to get to higher ground, the coast of Alaska is also under a warning, as well as possibly Hawaii...

I was reading the MSNBC article and they said the coasts of Alaska and Hawaii are under alert, but it is unlikely that any damage will be done.

A 16" wave? Even the 6.5 one would hardly do any damage. these are islands.... surely they have experienced higher waves than that..... I can just see all the surfers in Hawaii running for there boards.......19 footers are common there.......

Yeah, apparently there was little news going on this morning.....I'm kind of baffled as to why this was "breaking news."

I know what you mean, the newscasters were making it sound like it was huge...then they mentioned the 16 inch wave....

Well, i think the earthquake was the biggest deal since it was an 8.1, which is pretty big.

Yes, but it occurred in the middle of the ocean near uninhabited (or barely inhabited) islands.

so did a tsunami happen or not? I saw all the breaking news this morning on GMA about the earthquake and T warning.... but I haven't heard anything since...
