Malvo got life because he took a plea bargain and testified against Muhammed. Additionally - he is/was under the age of 18 at the time of the murders, thereby allowing him to be tried as a juvenile. Although, if I remember correctly, he was tried as an adult. Participating in a plea bargain makes a LOT of difference though.

| Thats pretty sad.. Heh...but that reminds me, Yanceys wife/girlfriend (can't remember what she was at the time, wife i believe) was being charged with aiding and abeting(sp?) but they told her they'd give her immunity if she turned him in...which of course she did.

| On this topic (juries, court, sentencing, etc.)...has anyone watched the show "Justice?" It's a law show that portrays "justice" through a defense attorneys viewpoint. It's rather interesting. | |

| Wasn't Malvo's case tried as a federal crime? That may make a diff. in the outcome, and as you said AJ, plea bargaining. But you would think that they woud have had enough against Muhammed as it was. | |

Both were tried in VA and MD, as state cases. And while they may have had enough on Muhammed, plea bargaining Malvo meant that they were "sure" of an outcome, without his testimony the case would not have been quite as solid.
