PostSubject: Another Riddle   Fri Sep 08, 2006 4:10 pm

You are given a balance scale and eight pool balls. One of them is slightly heavier then others, its not detectable by holding it in your hand, it has to be weighed. The only thing you can use is the balance scale. But you may only use it twice. How do you figure out which ball is heaviest?

(This is actually from Jason..So I won't take credit for figuring this out Smile)

By the color. Isn't the cue ball heavier?

There is no ball heavier than any other is there? Atleast, i thought they all had to be the same to make it fair.

maybe in a real game there isnt but its a riddle......so theres one that is.

Put four balls on each side. Remove a ball from each side. If it balances out, you're holding the odd ball.

i thought of that to Ginny but i got the impression that the scale only holds one ball each side. Wink
